A Beginners Guide To Sensitive Skin

A Beginners Guide To Sensitive Skin

Jun 13, 2024Michelle Driver

Sensitive skin is a deeply personal journey that many of us navigate daily. For me, this journey started with my wife, whose skin inspired the creation of Poetry Skincare. Watching her struggle with sensitive skin opened my eyes to the need for skincare products that are both gentle and effective.

The fundamentals of good skincare are well-known: wear SPF, avoid picking at your skin, eat well, exercise regularly, and stay hydrated. Yet, despite following these guidelines and doing everything recommended by dermatologists and beauty experts, my wife’s skin continued to react unpredictably. Her experiences highlighted a crucial need for products that could truly cater to sensitive skin.

Sensitive skin can feel like an unwinnable battle. It reacts to environmental changes, stress, and even the products designed to help it. Redness, dryness, and discomfort became regular challenges for her. Witnessing her frustration and discomfort firsthand made me determined to find a solution that genuinely worked.

At Poetry Skincare, we design our formulations around the skin’s natural physiology, with a special focus on sensitive and mature skin. Our approach harnesses the best of nature, using bio-identical and scientifically proven ingredients that work harmoniously with the skin’s processes. These bio-active ingredients trigger beneficial cellular responses, promoting a healthy, resilient complexion without causing irritation.

Transitioning to new skincare products can be daunting, especially for sensitive skin. Here’s how to integrate our products effectively:

  1. Start Slowly: Introduce one product at a time to allow your skin to adjust gradually.
  2. Moderate Usage: Begin with a smaller amount than recommended, like half a pump instead of a full pump.
  3. Build Up Gradually: Increase usage over time, starting with every other day and moving to daily use as your skin builds tolerance.
  4. Enhance Your Routine: Using a muslin cloth while cleansing can stimulate circulation and gently exfoliate dead skin cells, improving absorption without irritating your skin. Avoid using hot water on your face, as it can exacerbate sensitivity.

Our products are designed to work in synergy, enhancing each other’s efficacy. Using them together ensures that your skin receives the full benefits of our formulations. If you have any questions or need guidance on your skincare journey, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at hello@poetryskincare.com.au We are here to support you every step of the way.

My wife’s journey with sensitive skin is the heart of Poetry Skincare. Her experiences have shaped our commitment to creating products that nurture and empower. Your skin tells a unique story, and we’re here to help you write it beautifully and confidently.
